Programs

The Mbabzi School Project is involved with several programs that aim to give the children opportunities to achieve more, learn more and experience more.

Certificates
The Mbabzi School Project has started a reward system whereby the top girl and boy of each class are rewarded with a certificate at the end of every term. With each certificate the children also receive a pencil case containing basic stationary. The aim of these certificates is to provide an incentive to the pupils to stay in school and try harder in class.   Children with Certificates

We have a link program between Mbabzi School and the Rosary Catholic School in Middlesex. Each year around 60 children from both schools write letters to each other.

The Rosary Catholic School are major donors of the MSP, and have held several fundraising events to support the schools. They have also donated stationary, including over 200 pencils, 120 colouring crayons, pens, sharpeners, rubbers, rulers and more.

Activity Weeks
Once a year, volunteers organise an Activity Week for the children. During the afternoons during the school holidays, the volunteers do a variety of drawing, singing, dancing and sporting activities.

School Trips
In April 2009 donations paid for Mbabzi School’s first ever school field trip. The donations paid for 40 children and 4 teachers to take a minibus to Southern Bottlers Ltd. (where they learnt how Malawi’s fizzy drinks are made) and Lilongwe’s Wildlife Centre (where they got to see a lion, monkeys, a hyena and crocodile). It was a great success and something the Mbabzi Schools Project hopes to make an annual occurrence.
