Mbabzi Primary School

About Mbabzi Primary

The school is officially run by the Government of Malawi, who pay for and provide the teachers. Mbabzi Estates Ltd. originally built the school buildings and currently tries to support the school in areas where the Government cannot, such as the maintenance of the buildings.

The school consists of Standard's 1 to 5, although the age of the children ranges from 5 to 16 years. There are currently over 1,300 pupils with only 14 teachers and 5 classrooms. The teacher-child ratio is approximately 1:90, and 4 extra 'classrooms' take place outdoors to accommodate all the children.

Art Competition

To involve the children in the new website, the children drew pictures of how they saw their school. Some of the ideas from the artwork have found their way into the website banner and logo.
